What Is Faith?

Hebrews 11:1-40 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.

Where Does Faith Come From?

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word about Christ (1).

God (2) is unfailingly faithful to us, His children, and He is calling us to be faithful to Him in return. As Believers (3), we are convicted of this because the Good News (4) beseeches us to follow Jesus Christ (5), the Pioneer and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). In the same breath, we are warned to follow no human (6) or put our trust and faith in anyone other than our LORD.

In Luke 17:5, the Apostles (7) of Jesus pleaded with Him, "Increase our faith!" We- you and I- are empowered to do the very same thing present day, for Jesus said, "You may ask Me for anything in My Name, and I will do it" (John 14:14).

As self-proclaimed followers of The Way, we have taken on an awesome responsibility bearing eternal consequences (8). In 1 Timothy 1:18-20, the Apostle Paul (9) renews his charge to Timothy (10) to stay the course. His unswerving proclamation to stand firm in Christ (11) is a timeless model for us to emulate two millennia later. Through the encouragement (12) of fellow believers (1 Thessalonians 5:11), our faith in God can be reenergized (Proverbs 27:17) and even passed onto others (13) as we press forward (Philippians 3:12) toward our Crown of Righteousness (2 Timothy 4:8).
